The success of the Harry Potter novels has clearly demonstrated that even in this age of video games and iPods, there is a hunger in children for a good book to read. And if that book is part of a series--so much the better. Written specifically for young readers by Patrick H. T. Doyle is a new series from Armadillo Books called 'Edgar Font's Hunt For A House To Haunt' that showcase the adventures of Edgar Font, a ghost that needs to find somewhere to haunt, especially when his grandchildren come to visit. The first volume of the series, "The Castle Tower Lighthouse" (0978613201, $6.99) finds Edgar considering an abandon lighthouse. Edgar and his grandchildren Audrey and Garret soon discover that there's more to this lighthouse--like mystery, danger, and an adventure they'll not soon forget! "The Fakersville Power Statons" (097861321X, $7.99) finds the trio considering Grandpa Edgar considering haunted a mansion at the base of the Fakersville waterfall (connected to the town's power station) that he knew of some 60 years earlier when he was still mortal. The problem is that somehow over those six decades all memory of Fakersville seem to have been erased and our hearty trio must solve this mystery and place their trust in an elusive stranger as they uncover the secrets behind the oblivion of Fakersville. Especially recommended for young readers ages 9 and older, these first two fantasy/suspense novels comprising the 'Edgar Font's Hunt For A House To Haunt' series are very highly recommended for personal, school, and community library collections and will leave their readers looking eagerly toward the next title in this well crafted series.
