Published in association with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, this book recounts the longtime efforts of Dr. Riegner (1911-2001) on behalf of Jewish-Christian relations and international human rights. Born into a German-Jewish family, he recounts his flight to Switzerland to escape the Nazis and his involvement there with the World Jewish Congress. What came to be known as the "Riegner telegram" (1942) was the first official notice in the West of the "final solution." Translated from the 1998 French Les Editions du Cerf.
