OECD reviews of innovation policy
HC195
Carried out by the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development), this report draws on a background report prepared by the Chilean Ministry of Economy as well as information from a series of interviews with major stakeholders in Chile's innovation system. The report examines the major features, strengths, and weaknesses of Chile's innovation system and policies as they relate to the economic performance of the country. A growing awareness of the importance of innovation for the country's future has resulted in the establishment of an Innovation Council for Competitiveness to develop guidelines for a long-term innovation strategy and the introduction of a new mining tax to fund the strategy. The study recommends areas for improvement in order to most efficiently use this additional public investment. No subject index.
