Retired US Army General and former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Julius Becton Jr. presents his autobiography. In addition to describing his rise through the ranks as an African American officer who joined a segregated army and discussing his service in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, Becton also discusses his civilian posts, which in addition to heading up FEMA has included acting as the president of Prairie View A&M University, his alma mater, and serving as the superintendent of the Washington DC public school system.
