Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of action for sustainable development, which consists of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the Statement of principles for the Sustainable Management of Forests, adopted by the United Nations in 1992. This volume looks at worldwide efforts to implement Agenda 21 at the local level in the 1990s, including a multilateral program called Localising Agenda 21: Action planning for sustainable urban development. Essays examine projects in Nakuru, Kenya; Essaouira, Morocco; Vinh, Vietnam; and Bayamo, Cuba, and are illustrated with color and black & white photographs, maps, aerial photographs, and drawings. There is no subject index.
