Lewis P. Lipsitt, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus of Psychology, Medical Science and Human Development at Brown University. He was the founder and director of the Child Study Center at Brown and was founding editor of The Brown University Child and Adolescent Behavior Letter.

Dr. Lipsitt served as Executive Director for Science at the American Psychological Association (APA), and will be honored at the association's 2004 annual meeting for lifetime achievement in the field of child development research.

Upon his retirement, Dr. Lipsitt and his wife Edna Duchin Lipsitt established the Lipsitt-Duchin Lectures in Child and Adolescent Development and Behavior.
