Topic: RSS FeedThe frame game: stamping on canvas
Expression, Nov-Dec, 2004 by Suzan Wisniewski
The inspiration for these canvas frames came to me after I saw demo artist Joyce Hazen of A Stamp in the Hand use them to stamp on. I was so impressed with the idea I went and bought the frames at a local stamp store, rushed home and made up a half dozen or so to give to friends as little gifts. It's always fun to see someone do something and then go home and add your own personal touches. Maybe you too will be inspired to stamp your own canvas frames.
INSTRUCTIONS
Color your stamp with a brush marker and stamp onto canvas frame, positioning the image where it is pleasing to you. Stamp your main images first, and then randomly over-stamp supporting images onto the frame with gold ink. Stipple color along the edges to add dimension and embellish with charms to finish the frame.
Dream Frame 1. Stamp Cressida in a darker purple and the Feather in a lighter purple. 2. The word Dream is actually carved in a solid block, so I just outlined the word itself with the purple pen to get the effect you see on the frame. 3. I over-stamped the Small Leaf with gold ink randomly on the frame, stamped the Dots and then stippled some color along the edges.
Asian Frame 1. Stamp Asian Woman and then add some accent color in her face with a brush maker. 2. Randomly stamp the Bamboo all over the frame and then over-stamp in gold with the Lines.
Letter Art Frame 1. Stamp the Round Head in purple onto the corner of your frame and color in with brush markers right on the frame. 2. Color the Letters image and then stamp with different brush markers to get the multicolor effect. 3. Over-stamp the Dragonfly in gold randomly on the frame.
