Air France KLM
Air France KLM To Raise Fuel Surcharges. Air France KLM will raise its fuel surcharges for tickets issued after January 11 and said it would maintain that as long as the price of a barrel of oil remained above USD$90. It will add 1 euro on domestic flights, 2 euros on medium-haul flights and 8 euros on long-distance flights. This will bring the fuel surcharge to 29 euros (USD$42.5) per flight within Europe and 88 euros (USD$129) per intercontinental flights. Jan 10, 2008
British Airways
British Airways's new OpenSkies Boeing 757s will have winglets retro-fitted to improve fuel efficiency, reduce CO2 emissions and increase the operating range. The narrow body aircraft, similar tot he ones used by low cost business class EOS and L'Avion, will seat 82 passengers in three cabins: business (24 seats reclining to 6 /15cm flat-beds); premium economy (28 seats with a 52 pitch); and economy (30 seats with a 31 pitch). Swiss International, EuroAirport Basel
Swiss International is to mark the first anniversary of the introduction of six new destinations to its EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg operations. And it will be doing so with the customers who have made the new services such a success: from January 14 onwards, SWISS will be giving away 40 free flights from Basel in various competitions and promotions. Switzerland's national airline will also open its EuroAirport lounge to all SWISS and Star Alliance customers on January 15. And on the same day the first "SWISS Soccer Tram" for the upcoming European football championships will take to the rails in Basel, and passers-by will have the chance to win one of ten free SWISS flights.
