Air France KLM, Delta Air Lines

SkyTeam partners Air France KLM and Delta Air Lines announced a wide-ranging agreement on the joint operation of transatlantic flights, including a number of flights from London Heathrow to US destinations, as the carriers seek to challenge British Airways directly when the EU-US open skies accord takes effect at the end of March. Delta executives conducted their third-quarter earnings conference call from Paris yesterday and promised a major announcement in conjunction with Air France KLM. Oct 17, 2007

Austrian Airlines

Austrian Airlines Group will reconfigure four Airbus A320s with a fixed business class cabin to operate on longer routes to the Middle East and Central Asia, a source close to the airline said. No further details were provided, and CEO Alfred Oetsch said news would be released in due course. Oct 19, 2007

CityJet

CityJet services to Strasbourg - operated on behalf of Air France - will start thrice-daily from October 28 and will replace the existing twice-daily rotation from Gatwick currently operated by Regional Airlines - itself a 100% subsidiary of Air France. Using Dornier 328 aircraft configured in a two-class cabin, the Strasbourg route becomes CityJet's tenth from London City and follows the news that the carrier would operate ScotAirways services to Edinburgh and Dundee from the airport. Strasbourg is a key business destination as it is one of the seats of the European Parliament in tandem with Brussels. Oct 15, 2007

CityJet, London City Airport

London City Airport says that it is now officially full following October 10 news that CityJet is to serve Strasbourg from the central London location. Any increase of that magnitude would allow passenger numbers to soar to 3.9m, although the airport insists that opening hours would not change and that there would be no need for night flights. GB Airways

London rail tickets now available from GB Airways. Passengers flying on GB Airways can now buy tickets for the Heathrow and Gatwick Express before they arrive in at either London airport. Express class single and return tickets are now available to buy on all flights from the GB Airways in-flight crew, who have been trained by Airport Express staff on how to sell the tickets on the aircraft. L'Avion

French carrier L'Avion, already operates Paris Orly Sud to Newark, but Morgan contends that it is rather Virgin Atlantic with its Upper Class proposition and British Airways with Club World, that is its competition. L'Avion has 90 business class only seats in a Boeing 757 aircraft, whereas Eos has 48. Eos will add flights between Stansted and Newark from spring next year. Oct 18, 2007

S7 Airlines

S7 Airlines announced the launch of thrice-weekly Moscow-Dublin service next summer aboard Airbus A319s, which it said will be the only direct route between the cities. Oct 16, 2007

SAS Scandinavian

SAS Scandinavian adds new long-haul routes. SAS will start a thrice-weekly service between Stockholm and Bangkok on 29 October, to be followed two days later by a new route between Copenhagen and Dubai. This will be the third long-haul route added this year by SAS, as in March the carrier introduced Stockholm-Beijing in addition to Copenhagen-Beijing. Stockholm-Bangkok route will operate to March 25, and Copenhagen-Dubai to March 29. Passengers will have a choice of three service classes: business, economy extra and economy. Oct 15, 2007
