Cliff Janeway is a former Denver Colorado homicide detective who retired from the force and took up the buying and selling of rare books. His girlfriend is Erin D' Angelo, Janeway's bookstore partner and a first-rate criminal defense attorney. When an old childhood friend of Erin's confesses to killing her husband, Janeway is sent to check things out. He finds that the victim has what seems to be an incredible library of signed (and therefore very valuable) editions, providing a quite plausible motive. Through in an autistic boy who may have seen what really happened but who cannot speak, an abusive bullying deputy sheriff, an aging but still competent local attorney, an abrasive local judge, a ring of suspicious book dealers, and you have a cast of characters that take the ready through a series of wholly unexpected plot twists to an amazing and unforeseen conclusion. The Sign Of The Book is superbly narrated by professional actor George Guidall in a flawlessly recorded, complete and unabridged, 7 cassette/10 hour production that is not only highly recommended for mystery buffs, but will prove simply fascinating listening for bibliophiles as well!
