Andreas: The Scribe 1865 is a novel set during the close of the American Civil War. A young man haunted by horrific memories of battle burns with the desire to write serious pieces for a newspaper, yet is relegated to simply reporting funerals and weddings. His idealism brings him in head-to-head clashes with a publisher who cares only about money, and his love for a beautiful woman only drives home that he cannot pursue a shared life with her unless he is willing to give up his dreams. His own blindness and quandary force him to desperate measures, and he must decide how and to what he must commit himself in the odyssey of his life. A profound saga of personal motives resonating with the desire to express oneself and dedicate one's life to a higher purpose.
