Fujitsu is Elected to Board of Directors of Trusted Computing Group ; First Member from Japan to be Elected to TCG board
JCN Newswires, Dec 6, 2006
Tokyo, Japan, Dec 6, 2006 - (JCN Newswire) - Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Laboratories Limited today announced that Dr. Seigo Kotani, Senior Researcher of the Secure Computing Laboratory of Fujitsu Labs, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) for a one-year term by TCG members. The board includes permanent board members AMD, HP, IBM, Infineon, Intel, Lenovo, Microsoft, and Sun. Fujitsu is the first member from Japan to be elected to the TCG board, which guides its approximately 140 members and work groups in development of industry specifications for hardware and software that protect PCs and other computing devices from attacks of critical information and transactions.
As a newly elected TCG board member, Dr. Seigo Kotani said, "I truly appreciate all of the TCG member companies that have put confidence in Fujitsu and myself, and will put forth my utmost efforts for TCG toward establishing a trusted social infrastructure for the future. Today, it is easier than ever to become a part of DDos (Distributed Denial of Service) attack in network society. I strongly believe that we can avoid such catastrophe through TCG activities."
The Trusted Computing Group (TCG) is an open industry standards organization whose specifications help vendors build products that let users protect critical data and information across a variety of devices and platforms. TCG is a not-for-profit organization formed to develop, define, and promote open standards for hardware-enabled trusted computing and security technologies, including hardware building blocks and software interfaces, across multiple platforms, peripherals, and devices.
Brian Berger, TCG marketing work group chairman, noted, "The addition of Fujitsu Limited to the TCG leadership will help with the expansion of Trusted Computing worldwide and the growing deployment of trusted systems in the enterprise. Fujitsu's support of various Trusted Computing initiatives has been important to enabling better computer security for enterprise users."
