Centron Telecom Signed Agreement with ASTRI; Working Together to Strengthen R&D Cooperation

Hong Kong, June 22, 2009 - (ACN Newswire) - Centron Telecom International Holdings Limited ("Centron Telecom" or "the Group") (HK:1155) has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited ("ASTRI") , wherein the two parties commit to cooperating on R&D and industrialization of communication technologies. The agreement was signed at The 7th China Cross-Strait Technology and Projects Fair themed "Project Results, Technological Demand and Alignment", held atthe Jinshan Exhibition City, Fuzhou City. Centron Telecom, which is a specialist in R&D, production and sale of mobile telecommunication and mobile digital television network coverage products and network optimization solutions, was invited to participate in the fair as a key enterprise in Quanzhou.
Pursuant to the agreement, the two parties will develop a platform for joint projects in relation to core wireless communication technologies and system equipment. The projects will receive talentand resource support from ASTRI, making full use of ASTRI's world-class technology advantages and Centron Telecom's strengths in products and marketing, to explore domestic and international markets. In the next 1-3 years, the projects are expectedto receive funding amounted to HK$10-20 million per year.

In 2008, Centron Telecom spent about RMB16.8 million in R&D, which was 88.8% more than in 2007. In addition, the Group's investment in intangible assets related to 3G and digital TV amounted to RMB56.9 million during the year. Such investments in self-initiated research, commissioned projects and intangible assets have enhanced the Group's competitiveness in the 3G market and overseas mobile communications market as well as digital TV.
