BMC Queues Up Plans for MQ

Software Magazine, June, 1999 by Elizabeth U. Harding

With the recent acquisitions of Boole & Babbage and New Dimension, BMC Software Inc., Houston, has not only tripled its size but also usurped robust technology. The launch of Patrol for MQ is the first one in a series that draws on the strengths of BMC and B&B.

"Customers who had chosen B&B for management on the mainframe and BMC on the distributed side are very excited about our plans of integrating both into one single solution," says Mike Bunyard, BMC director of product marketing. "Patrol for MQ offers both host-based and distributed availability management for MQ."

Customers have the ability to integrate Patrol distributed agents with the Command/Post Enterprise Console, Bunyard says. As part of Patrol for MQ, BMC delivered three new products: Optimizer for MQ, a data compression product; MessageExplorer for MQ, a search engine for finding, retrieving, changing, and sending messages; and LogPlus for MQ, for assured delivery of messages.
