StorageTek recently announced the availability of the MessageVault system, an integrated solution for archiving and retrieving critical electronic messages.
The MessageVault system protects e-mail from inadvertent destruction while making it accessible on demand. With MessageVault, customers will be better able to manage costs associated with e-mail storage, and avoid risk of regulatory or legal actions to enhance productivity of the work force.
The MessageVault system integrates hardware and software with sophisticated search capabilities to deliver an enterprise-class solution. The server edition is targeted to highly regulated industries, such as financial services, insurance, and securities that are required to retail all e-mail documents.

The MessageVault system will immediately support Microsoft Exchange, with Lotus Notes planned for availability in the third quarter of 1999.
Generally available in the second quarter, StorageTek's MessageVault system server edition pricing starts at $320,000 and includes StorageTek's 9730 automated tape library with DLT drives, 915x high-capacity RAID disk, NT and Unix servers, and Application Storage Manager software. The server edition includes Excalibur index, plus search and retrieval software. Client edition pricing starts at $186,000.
