Software Technologies Group has announced the availability of the UDI (Uniform Driver Interface) environment for Red Hat Linux and Caldera OpenLinux operating systems. The single driver interface is designed to provide device driver portability for existing and future system configurations. According to the company, UDI will allow vendors to make devices available on more platforms in less time.

The release includes the UDI environment itself as well as several sample drivers for hardware such as the Osicom 230 network interface card and the DPT SmartCache and SmartRaid families of SCSI controllers.

Users can download the product from the site for free. UDI supports I/O technologies and future I/O technologies.
