PKI

Software Magazine, August, 2000

Information Resource Engineering Inc. (IRE) has enhanced its PKI offering, SafeNet/Soft-PK Version 5.0. New client features include Layer Two Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) and Win2000 support. These features provide interoperability and will expand opportunities for communications suppliers to offer users of non-IP protocols the functionality they need in a VPN client to communicate in an IP marketplace.

SafeNet/Soft-PK allows a client to perform registration without using a certificate, a benefit for users operating in an environment that doesn't utilize digital certificates. This also provides a smooth transition from pre-shared key to PKI for companies not fully ready to use PKI. The security services offered by SafeNet/Soft-PK include confidentiality via encryption, packet integrity and authentication via keyed hash, and identity authentication via Digital Signatures and X.509 certificates, exchanged during key negotiation.

Pricing is $79 per client.
