Rational SiteLoad

Software Magazine, Dec, 2000

Rational Software targets developers without testing experience with Rational SiteLoad. The new offering is a scalable load testing tool that simulates Internet traffic and provides developers with real-time information on site performance.

Written in Java, SiteLoad runs on a Web server and is accessed through a browser. The product allows users to incrementally increase the user load for a preset length of time or until a performance thresh old is met. SiteLoad RealStatus reports provide graphs that detail the response times and resources used by testing the systems. Also, the impact of the user load on the system resources can be monitored.

SiteLoad can be hosted on Windows, Solaris, and Linux. Pricing ranges from $15,000 for a 250 virtual user license to $100,000 for an unlimited virtual user license. Rational also plans a promotional license for 50 users at no charge, as a download from their Web site.
