Software Magazine, Dec, 2000
Mercury Interactive Corp.'s Topaz 3.0, a suite of Web performance monitoring solutions, provides an early warning of performance degradation by correlating performance data back to the root cause, both inside and outside the firewall.
Leveraging technology from the company's October 1999 acquisition of Conduct Software Technologies, Topaz 3.0 introduces a new nonintrusive, centrally located, network monitoring solution, Topaz Prism, that captures and analyzes every request made to a Web server from all users, from all locations, all the time.
Topaz 3.0 also introduces custom monitors that collect Web and application server information for Allaire, Ariba, BEA, Blue Martini, Broadvision, IBM WebSphere, and others.

Topaz Prism is installed next to the Web server infrastructure, so that it can "listen" to every request sent to the Web server from any ISP or user's location. With Topaz Prism's WebTrace technology, IT managers can provide a breakdown of end-to-end network time by segment, and pinpoint performance problems on the network and Internet. Being able to capture all requests enables IT managers to identify slow segments, faulty routers, and ISP peering problems, ensuring that service-level agreements (SLAs) are enforced.
Topaz 3.0 is sold on a subscription basis with pricing starting at $2,495 per month. Topaz Prism can be purchased separately and starts at $2,995 per month. Server monitors are priced individually.
