Software Magazine, July, 1993 by Judith Hodges, Deborah Melewski

Herndon, Va.

A developer of software systems and tools based on the Ada programming language, Verdix Corp. saw total corporate revenue increase 50% to $24.8 million in calendar 1992. All of Verdix's revenue is said to be derived from the sale and support of packaged software, 91% of which came from the U.S. market. Verdix cited Canada, Australia and the U.K. as key foreign markets.

Verdix's core product line is Vads, the Verdix Ada Development System. Vads includes an Ada compiler, a code generator, a runtime system and a screen-oriented symbolic debugger. Since the federal government mandated the Ada language in all procurements, Verdix's core Ada business has grown rapidly.

Other Verdix products include Vads Apse and VSLAN.

In September 1992, the corporation completed the acquisition of Meridian Software Systems, a maker of Ada compilers and Case tools, for $4.9 million.

The public company increased its work force from 108 employees to 128 in 1992, and spent 18% of total corporate revenue on R&D in 1992.
