WordPerfect moves to native OS/2 - WordPerfect Corp.'s WordPerfect 5.2 for OS/2 word processing software package - Newsfront - Brief Article - Product Announcement

Software Magazine, August, 1993

With its WordPerfect 5.2 for OS/2, WordPerfect Corp., Orem, Utah, is targeting current DOS-based word processing users as well as potential users downgrading from the mainframe environment.

Richard Running, WordPerfect for OS/2 director of marketing, said that the new version is a native OS/2 application, and takes as much of the operating system into the product as possible. "A major advantage of WordPerfect for OS/2 is that it takes advantage of the OS/2 Workplace Shell, with background printing, drag and drop capabilities, and HPFS long filename support," said Running.

The new OS/2 version will also bring forth the first 32-bit version of the Grammatik grammar checking product, purchased by WordPerfect when it recently acquired Reference Software.
