Software Magazine, Nov, 1997 by Amy Sauer
Managers at Bay Networks have been looking for an SAP monitoring tool that they could use to train Basis analysts and keep a history of system log entries.
According to Basis Manager Tracy Ferrell, the company also needed to evaluate the health of their SAP systems in a way that quickly prioritized problems.
The search ended with the selection of Inspector, a performance analysis tool for SAP R/3 applications co-developed by Envive Corp. and SAP authors.

"It will be an excellent tool for inexperienced Basis analysts to get a feel for SAP, to learn what's important to monitor, what can fail, and suggested fixes," says Ferrell. "It gives us 24-hour Basis coverage, without burnout on our Basis analysts." Inspector provides realtime root cause analysis, resolution recommendations, and predictive analysis. It also summarizes and reports service levels. Ferrell says the Inspector product helped alert Bay Networks to a failed FDDI communications card inside their SAP system which was being used for backups.
Pricing for Inspector starts at $40,000.
