Software Magazine, Nov, 1992

Paris-based computer manufacturer Groupe Bull has added a pair of object-oriented database management systems to its catalog of packages that run on the company's Unix-based computers.

Gerard Roucairol, VP of research and advanced development at Groupe Bull, parent firm of Bull HN Information Systems, Inc., Billerica, Mass., said the first OODBMSs to be supported on Bull machines are from Versant Object Technology, Menlo Park, Calif., and Versailles, France-based O2 Technology.

Roucairol noted that Bull owns a minority stake in O2 Technology, whose DBMS product has been described as third-generation technology by Ovum Ltd., a London-based research firm.
