Networx enters network management market - Networx Inc. buys core network management technology from Boeing and prepares first product for shipment - Brief Article

Software Magazine, Nov 15, 1992

Networx, Inc., Bellevue, Wash., rounded by former employees of the Network Management Systems and Services Group of Boeing Computer Services Co., has purchased core network management technology from Boeing and is now readying its first product for shipment.

Christopher Slatt, president of the year-old company, contended that network managers want to buy rather than build applications for network management. "The network management platforms are out there," Slatt said. "What we need now are add-on applications."

Standardization is also an issue, he maintained. "While our application can be run standalone, it is fully integrated with OpenView and SunNet Manager [from Sun Microsystems,Inc., Mountain View, Calif.] and we are working with IBM to support NetView/6000," Slatt said.
