Software Magazine, Nov, 1993
Business CardReader (BCR), a business card scanning software program that allows users to automatically enter business card information into PCs, is available from Ocron, Inc., Santa Clara, Calif.
After a business card has been scanned by a desktop or hand-held scanner, BCR uses artificial intelligence to automatically organize card information into categories such as company name, contact, title, address, phone and fax numbers. It uses a combination of matching key words and character patterns, positioning, font sizes and other rules to determine where the text should go. The program retains the original card images as well as text information.
