Optimal Performance supports net optimization, planning - Network General Corp and Optimal Networks introduce system for capacity planning, optimization and design of enterprise networks - Brief Article - Product Announcement

Network General Corp., Menlo Park, Calif., and Optimal Networks, Mountain View, Calif., have jointly introduced Optimal Performance, a system for optimization, capacity planning, and design of enterprise networks.

Optimal Performance imports Expert Analysis data collected by Network General's Expert Sniffer Network Analyzers and Distributed Sniffer System to automatically generate a model of the organization's network. The network manager can then use Optimal Performance for analysis and simulation to receive a list of optimization recommendations. The event simulation capability supports recommendations for LAN segmentation, hub partitioning, LAN switch deployment, optimal server and workstation positioning, optimal application positioning and capacity requirements for WAN links. Optimal Performance also provides previews of future designs and changes.

Optimal Performance is a Windows-based application. The enterprise version is priced at $25,000.
