The GemStone Object/Web Server development suite is new from Beaverton, Ore.-based GemStone Systems Inc.

A full HTTP server implemented in GemStone, Gem- Builder for Web provides Web browsers with direct access to objects in GemStone without the need for CGI calls. GemBuilder for Java gives Java client applications access to GemStone business objects for developing client/server Java applications. Through the GemORB component, the GemStone Object/Web server can be integrated into enterprise applications as an object storage and execution system.

A development system, including both GemBuilder for Web and GemBuilder for Java, is priced at $4,000 for Unix and $3,200 for Windows. Pricing for GemORB is not yet available.
