Fifth Generation Systems, Inc., Baton Rouge, La., has released two new versions of its FastBack backup products, FastBack Plus Windows and FastBack Plus Network.
FastBack Plus Windows 1.0 runs under Microsoft Windows 3.0 or higher, and lets users back up files on a hard disk in the background while other Windows applications are running. The product uses an Express Menu, providing a one-step process for backup; and Quick Tag, a mouse-based pointer for selecting files and directories to back up. Other features include autoformat, adaptive data compression, alternate devices, and file encryption. The Windows version of FastBack Plus is priced at $189.

FastBack Plus Network Version 1.0 automatically backs up the network server to large-capacity SCSI drives at any scheduled time. The Network version works with Novell Netware, Banyan Vines or other PC-based network operating systems. FastBack Plus Network is priced at $225.
