Business Objects S.A., a Puteaux, France-based developer of client/server decision support tools, went public in 1994. Business Objects Inc., Cupertino, Calif., is a wholly owned subsidiary.

Total corporate revenue for the year was $30.2 million, up 115% over last year. Revenue from packaged software was $27.5 million, up from $11.6 million in 1993. About 66% of the firm's software revenue was derived from outside the U.S.

The company's principal product is the BusinessObjects data access tool. Business Objects spent 14% of its total revenue on R&D in 1994. The workforce increased from 136 employees in 1993 to 214 in 1994.

At year-end the company reported an installed base of 40,000 users in 20 countries.
