Kids honored for remembering America - News & Trends

Instructor,  Nov-Dec, 2002

These second graders from H. Byron Masterson Elementary in Kennett, Missouri, had some special time with Clifford during a visit to Scholastic's New York headquarters to celebrate their selection as recipients of the America Remembers award. The award was one of several categories in the Scholastic Book Fairs' national book-writing contest, Kids Are Authors.

The America Remembers award was given in memory of September 11, 2001. Last year, the students wrote the book September 12th: We Knew Everything Would Be ALL Right, which is filled with vibrant pictures and a simple story that explains there is good to be found after bad things happen. The book, which costs $3.99, is available through Scholastic Book Fairs, bookstores, and by calling the Scholastic Store (1-877-286-0137).
