Marconi will sell its optical components business to Bookham Technology for stock worth more than $30 million. NexVerse Networks paid $15 million for the ipVerse Control Switch product and related assets of ipVerse. Cable & Wireless' Cable & Wireless IDC subsidiary agreed to acquire PSINet's PSINet Japan unit for $10.2 million plus debt assumption, in a deal subject to the approval of U.S.

Bankruptcy Court. Looking to expand its Internet access service Level3 said it will buy McLeod USA's wholesale dial-up access business for $55 million plus the assumption of debt. With the acquisition, Level3 says it will offer managed-modem service in all 50 states.
