Symmetrical VDSL - Brief Article - Product Announcement

Telecommunications, April, 2001

Telco Systems is squeezing more out of existing copper lines with its EdgeLink VDSL platform. With VDSL, providers can offer symmetrical VDSL at 10 Mbps, as opposed to other DSL flavors that are typically constrained to 5 Mbps of downstream capacity. EdgeLink V24S (24-port VDSL switch) and EdgeLink VTU10 (VDSL termination unit) are ideal for MTU/MDU, SOHO, campus environments; and high-bandwidth applications such as streaming video, video-on-demand and surveillance.

EdgeLink V24W has a non-blocking architecture to support a variety of uplink options, including fiber-based Gigabit Ethernet or fiber- or copper-based 10/100-Mbps Ethernet with port trunking capability. Occupying only 1.5 rack units, EdgeLink V24S can fit into cramped wiring closets and GOs. EdgeLink VTU10 VDSL Termination Unit provides POTS, Internet and video to end users over their existing two-wire copper telephone lines.
