Remote DSLAMs - Brief Article - Product Announcement
Telecommunications, April, 2001
Nortel has enhanced its Universal Edge IMAS family of DSLAMs with the addition of two new products designed for remote deployment. The small footprint Universal Edge IMAS Remote is intended for installation in multitenant facilities or small COs. It allows service providers a way to address situations where a lower number of DSL lines are needed while offering them the flexibility to scale quickly as they add new customers.
The Universal Edge Xpress DSL is aimed at providing services to multitenant/multidwelling units and offers service providers flexible packaging options, including wall and rack mountings at customer premises. Nortel recently has added the G.SHDSL capability as well as a DS1 interface to the Universal Edge IMAS line. The new DSLAMs ship later this quarter.
