Vacancies Available at Carrier Hotels - Industry Trend or Event - Brief Article

Telecommunications, Sept, 2000

As incumbent CO space rapidly shrinks, emerging carriers are turning to carrier hotels to house their communications equipment, according to a recent report from Ovum. While new players, including real eatate companies, IT services organizations and content and distribution players, are already providing carrier-class infrastructure services, the emphasis of the telecom hotel will shift from real estate and location to the services and functionality provided inside the facilities.

This has led to the build-out of telecom hotels in metropolitan regions, reflecting the location of regional network hubs. However, as the market matures, telecom hotels will become increasingly numerous and will move away from such areas.
