NTT DoCoMo Trials IP Core Network - Industry Trend or Event - Brief Article

NTT DoCoMo, Japan's largest wireless provider, will trial an IP-based mobile communications network using a suite of solutions from Cisco, Motorola and Xybridge. Trials will be conducted at NTT DoCoMo's labs beginning this month and will conclude in March 2001. Cisco will use its core Internet routers and media gateways to provide IP networking expertise to NTT DoCoMo for the upcoming trial Motorola and Xybridge are working together to integrate Xybridge's softswitch product suite into Motorola's Aspira architecture.

NTT DoCoMo's l-Mode service is attracting thousands of subscribers a day making it the world leader in mobile Internet service provisioning.
