Ford-Alfa Autoparts Alliance Continues To Grow

Autoparts Report, Feb 23, 2001

An autoparts alliance between Ford Motor Co. and Mexican industrial conglomerate Grupo Alfa has fared relatively well, despite a slump in U.S. auto sales, according to a report in Mexico City daily Reforma. Ford last year boosted its stake in Alfa autoparts subsidiary Nemak by 30 percent, with Nemak taking control of two mono-block and aluminum head plants owned by Ford in Windsor, Canada, Reforma reported.

The two Windsor plants reportedly produce 3.8 million engine heads and 1.2 million mono-blocks per year.
