U.S. Light-Vehicle Sales On Pace To 16.8 Million Units

Autoparts Report, May 22, 2002

U.S. light vehicle sales in April and May is on a pace to hit 16.8 million units for full year 2002, according to data from WardsAuto. "A rebound in fleet deliveries will drive sales volume in May and June, along with generally good economic news, generous retail incentives and low interest rates," said Haig Stoddard, WardsAuto manager of industry analysis.

Among the high-volume automakers, only Ford Motor Co. is expected to have lower sales.
