LoJack Corporation, said that it has entered into an agreement with the Wireless Link Corporation of Milpitas, CA to develop a state-of-the-art vehicle telematics product for the automobile aftermarket.
The LoJack Telematics product - expected to be introduced within the next 12 months - is designed to be competitively priced, including hardware and services, for both the consumer and commercial markets. It will include: location technology, roadside assistance, "mayday" services, asset tracking, remote door unlock, and flashing lights, the company said.
Future Telematics offerings by LoJack may add Internet services, the company said.

The Telematics product will compliment the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System currently being marketed by the company, it said. The company said its plans also include introduction of an existing Wireless Link Telematics product on an interim basis during the summer of 2000 to allow LoJack to enter and test both the consumer and commercial markets in advance of the availability of the new LoJack Telematics product.
