As part of its larger restructuring initiative, Tenneco Automotive Inc. said it plans to close its Monroe shock absorber factory in Corlu, Turkey, by the end of this year. The company said its plan will impact the 124 employees at the plant.
Tenneco will keep sales and marketing teams in Turkey to service both its original equipment and aftermarket customers and will import ride control products for this market from other facilities in Europe.

Tenneco also said it will continue to distribute aftermarket products from its new distribution center in Istanbul. The company said its plan to close the plant is part of a larger restructuring plan, Project Genesis, outlined in December.
