Isuzu May Pull Out Of Fuji Joint Venture

Autoparts Report,  Oct 18, 2002

Isuzu Motors is reportedly about to pull out of its joint venture with Subaru parent company Fuji Heavy Industries to build sport-utility vehicles for the U.S. market. The Japanese business daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun, as well as Automotive News, reported that the Subaru-Isuzu Automotive company would become a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy.

Isuzu's sport-utility vehicles would still be built at the Lafayette, Indiana, plant by Fuji, the report said, and Isuzu would also procure vehicles to sell in the U.S. market through General Motors. Neither company would confirm the report.
