A press reports in Russia said that Volkswagen has confirmed plans to build an assembly plant in the Moscow region, according to comments made by Sergei Mitin, Deputy Industry, Science and Technology Minister.

The report says that Sergei Mitin told a news conference that he had "recently received a letter from Volkswagen that said the company had not cancelled its plans to build an assembly plant in the Moscow region." Mitin reportedly added that the possible location for a VW plant remains Stupino, southeast of Moscow.
