NAPA, Internet Dealers' Group In Cooporative Agreement

Autoparts Report,  Nov 15, 2000

The Internet Auto Dealers Marketing Association (IADMA), through its exclusive partnership with the National Automotive Parts Association (NAPA), will provide its national network of more than 2,800 automobile dealers with daily auto parts fulfillment through NAPA's comprehensive network of warehouses and stores, IADMA said.

NAPA is the nation's largest ready-to-ship aftermarket parts provider, with more than 6,000 retail stores and 20,000 delivery vehicles. A subsidiary of Genuine Parts Co., NAPA maintains an extensive inventory of aftermarket parts and supplies totaling more than 220,000 items.

"NAPA is the complete source for the service department's needs on the non-franchise and previously owned vehicles that our members' service," said Director of Business Development for the IADMA, Jeff Sandt. "From parts, supplies and technical training to inventory management, obsolescence protection and manufacturers' representatives, NAPA is the one-source auto parts supplier."

With NAPA's recent entrance into the OEM market with its replacement parts program, the timing was ideal for these organizations to team up, and offer technicians and service managers the professional choice for aftermarket parts, NAPA said in a statement. "NAPA has developed a program to assist OE dealers with parts procurement," said NAPA's Major Accounts Sales Manager, Bruce Pforsich. "Since the IADMA provides access to more than 2,800 dealers representing many different brands, we believe that our relationship with the IADMA presents an excellent opportunity for NAPA to move forward with this program."

According to Sandt, who inked the deal on behalf of the IADMA, member- dealers will be able to access NAPA's inventory of automotive parts, accessories, tools and equipment through its electronic procurement system, or if the dealers prefer, NAPA still provides traditional procurement services via a salesperson or the telephone for 'hot-shot' delivery.
