Closure's Liquiderm Approved By Fda

BT Catalyst,  Feb, 2001

Closure Medical Corp. (Nasdaq: CLSR) of Raleigh has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval to market its Liquiderm[TM] liquid adhesive bandage.

Liquiderm[TM] adhesive is the first and only cyanoacrylate medical device approved by the FDA for the over-the counter (OTC) adhesive bandage market.

Liquiderm[TM] adhesive uses the same proprietary technology as Closure's Dermabond[R] topical skin adhesive, used in hospitals as an alternative for closing incisions and lacerations.

"The approval of Liquiderm[TM] adhesive brings the Dermabond[R] adhesive technology from the hospital into the home medicine cabinet," said Robert V. Toni, Closure's president and CEO.
