Biotech 2005, North Carolina's 15th annual biotechnology conference, will be held May 24-25 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center near Research Triangle Park with close to 1,000 attendees expected.
Biotech 2005: "Fusing Science, Technology and Industry Leadership" will celebrate North Carolina's thriving life sciences industry. Attendees will hear panel discussions on a range of industry topics and trends such as biodefense, emerging technologies, early and later-stage financing, the internationalization of biotechnology and FDA regulatory submissions.

Speakers will include Jeff Clark, managing partner of The Aurora Funds; Donald deBethizy, president and CEO of Targacept; Lou Anne Flanders-Stec, fund executive of Piedmont Angel Network; Deborah Hylton, partner of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice PLLC; Randall Marcuson, president and CEO of Embrex; Sheila Mikhail, CEO of Asklepios Biopharmaceutical; Michael Murphy, president and CEO of Gentris Corporation; Alden Philbrick, president and CEO of Oxford Finance Corporation; John Richert, vice president of the Business and Technology Development Program at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center; Kenneth Tindall, senior vice president of science and business development at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center; and Kay Wagoner, CEO of Icagen.
The conference is presented by the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED), the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, the North Carolina Biosciences Organization (NCBIO) and the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO).
