Dr. Pascal J. Goldschmidt, chief of the division of cardiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, has been selected to chair the department of medicine at Duke. Goldschmidt is the Edward S. Orgain Professor of Cardiology and director of the Center for Cardiovascular Genetics. He succeeds Dr. Barton Haynes, who was chair of the department for seven years before stepping down in 7002 to serve full-time as director of the Duke Human Vaccine Institute.
