Aurora Funds Inc. of Durham has just closed on a $52 million venture capital fund.
Aurora plans to use the new fund to invest in up to 18 emerging life science and information science companies with strong market potential.

Harbert Management Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., was the lead investor in the new fund. The North Carolina Biotechnology Center also participated in the new fund with a $500,000 investment.
