> * The Biotechnology Center recently awarded its annual Academic Research Initiation Grants for biotechnology research to various researchers at the following universities: East Carolina University in Greenville received $110,000, Duke University in Durham received $438,107, North Carolina State University in Raleigh received $118,655, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill received $330,000, UNC at Charlotte received $55,000 and Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem received $55,000.
