The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Cyanokit (hydroxocobalamin for injection), for the treatment of known or suspected cyanide poisoning, the first cyanide antidote to be approved in the United States in several decades. The product was developed by EMD Pharmaceuticals of Durham and Dey, LP of Napa, Calif., U.S. affiliates of Merck of Darmstadt, Germany.
