StemCo Biomedical Inc. of Durham has received a $109,000 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Institutes of Health of Bethesda, Md., to support its project on the "Enumeration and Isolation of Human Hematopoetic Stem Cells." The project will use the company's proprietary Aldefluor reagent system to identify cells that have a high level of expression of the intracellular enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDHbright).
