BT Catalyst,  Dec, 2000

Scynexis Chemistry & Automation Inc. of Research Triangle Park officially opened for business recently after receiving $15 million in funding from a syndicate of venture capitalists and banks.

Created by the spin-off of an Aventis CropScience research team, Scynexis will provide a comprehensive range of discovery chemistry services for the pharmaceutical and other life sciences industries.

"The time is right for a company like Scynexis, which possesses the proprietary technology and strong human talent to discover and exploit new chemistry compounds for human, plant and animal health," said Alan Godard, chairman of Aventis CropScience, which employs 600 people in Research Triangle Park.
